A two days-one night, great experience over Pegasingan Hill

We invite you to join our two–day walk through the rice fields, to chat with the farmers and enjoy the scenery from the high hill called Pegasingan. The view from 637 m above the villages and fields of Sembalun Lawang and Sembalun Bumbung is of the glorious panorama of the ancient caldera of Mt. Rinjani. The programme for the walk includes; an explanation of the local tree species that grow at various altitudes and how these are used by the local people for traditional medicines, also how we can assist the local conservation group by planting some trees and species of orchids.

We visit the location where, according to legend, it was used by the king to play games of spinning tops. Your guide and porters will show us how to play the spinning top. The overnight camp area is called Bukit Batua (Batua Hill) where a long time ago the villagers used to pray before starting to hunt wild deer. A spiritual leader will pray and give blessings to all the members of the group before the porters and guide install the tents. This is a special place to watch the sunset and sunrise also view the summit slopes of Mt Rinjani and distant mountain of Agung on Bali. After dark we see the lights of Sembelia village and the distant port town of Labuhan Lombok.

After dinner we are entertained by our guide or porters playing a melodious flute besides enjoying the ethereal tropical night sky from around 1,773 m above sea level. After breakfast the walk continues for a few hours including our resting time through the tropical rain forest to search for a variety of birds and listen to their calls. At the lunch stop our guide will help us to look for forest food that we may add to our lunch. Continue the trip to Makam Sakan, Makam (Grave) and find out some graves on the way which was known as ancestor. Your guide will tell you the story. On reaching Lendang Madang we will meet our transport that will take as to a site for a bathe in cool spring water, a refreshing finale to the programme.
